It is one of the most convenient budget hotels to stay in, especially for solo travelers. Sleeping pod is comfy and cosy. The luggage compartment is spacious enough to put an extra large one. It is near many restaurants, mainstream or hole-in-the-wall types. It is near two major train stations that leads you to Shibuya, Harajuku, Ebisu, and such. There is also a bus stop nearby that leads you to Shibuya crossing. The hotel is very clean and neat. Minimalist design. Also, friendly staff. Can speak English. They also provide breakfast, which doesn’t cost much and food is filling. Just enough to get you going for the day.

The hostel is located in a quiet residential area while still being very close to the hustle and bustle of the Shibuya area. There's two rail stations about 3 minutes walk away, 4 convenience stores at the same distance that are open 24 hours day, and plenty of restaurants. The hostel was always extremely clean. The lockers under the beds are plenty large enough for all of your belongings (each one is the size of about half a bed). There's a washer and dryer that each cost 200 yen to use. You can rent the regular things like towels, slippers and locks if you want. I liked that the beds were in "cubbies" and were not traditional bunk beds, it offered a lot of privacy. You are allowed to eat outside food in the cafe on the first floor. I personally would not add breakfast, it seemed very bare-bones (bread, jam, cereal) and we preferred spending that money on more interesting breakfasts. Only small issue is that the blanket wasn't quite large enough to cover my boyfriend comfortably. He's about 6 feet tall and sleeps on his back. Since we traveled in December, he was a little chilly. The pillows were also a little too thin. Overall, we are happy we stayed here and would definitely recommend it.

This was a decent hostel. It was super clean and the staff was lovely. I stayed on the female only floor and it was super quiet which can be great. The hostel was full of mostly Japanese patrons which made it hard for a solo traveller to meet people as most Japanese people I have met are quite shy with foreigners

Friendly staff, quick check in and great location. The cafe attached to the hostel has wonderful coffee and chai plus was one of the only spots I was able to find almond milk in Tokyo. I stayed in the mixed dorm for 4 nights and had a wonderful stay. You can buy locks for $2 usd and the rooms are clean and have plenty of toilets, showers and sinks so I never had to wait. The room can be loud depending on who's staying there but beds are comfortable and it felt safe so I was okay leaving things in my bed during the day. Ideal location close to the trains, shopping, concert venues

When I had booked our trip to Tokyo last year through exepedia.ca I will admit I initially chose Almond Hostel & Cafe for the price. I read as many reviews as I could before finalizing the booking, almost all of them were very positive and with very little area knowledge the location seemed favourable to me as well. After spending 10 days exploring Tokyo and riding the trains just how amazing a choice and how perfect of a location it`s in became abundantly clear. Check in is up to 01:00 as that is how late the cafe ( Which occupies the first floor ) stays open to. The second floor is co-ed ( Which is where the wife and I sayed ) and the third floor is strictly for the ladies. Access is through a keypad locked gate from the alley behind the hostel, be aware that there is a set of stars you`ll have to climb to get to your respective floor and a second keypad will let you into your communal area. Your sleeping area is approximately 6 long, 3 feet wide and 4 feet high, I didn`t measure, but, I`m 6`2`and I fit inside ok.You`ve got two hangers, a shelf, an outlet and a light, a curtain for privacy and a lockable storage space located at floor height below the bottom sleeping space. The spaces are located mostly 2 x 2 so you`ll have someone next to you and a ladder will give someone access to the space above you, no using the provided hair dryers after 23:30, there are 4 toilets and 2 showers on the co-ed floor. No drinks or food are allowed except for in the cafe. Yoyogi Hachiman and Yoyogi Koen railway stations are a mere 5 minute walk from the hostel, Shibuya and Shinjuku stations are about a 20 minute walk away as well. Yoyogi park is about an 8 minute walk away. There are many restaurants in the neighbourhood and there are 7-11`s, Lawsons, Familymarts and 2 grocery stores scattered around within as short as half-a-blocks stroll. The wife and I highly recommend to anyone that a stay here will be a great addition to any trip to Tokyo whether it`s for just one night longer!!
